Megan Hertel, M.Ed., LLC
Hello and buenas! My name is Megan, and I am a therapist specializing in child, adolescent, young adult, and family therapy. I also speak Spanish - yo hablo español! I enjoy working with clients of all ages, but I have a particular passion for working with children and young adults ages 5 to 21 and caregivers. I believe that providing compassionate mental health services can be restorative and transformative.
I have experience working with folks with a variety of issues including, but not limited to trauma, anxiety, depression, school issues, attachment issues, and behavioral and emotional issues. With child and adolescent clients, I will often use games, expressive arts, play, mindfulness, and books to connect, discover, and communicate in session.
I take particular pride in incorporating a client's interests and preferences into our sessions to engage them beyond the scope of traditional talk-based therapy. With teens and young adults I use a combination of the above interventions couples with more traditional talk therapies or mindfulness interventions. My approach often combines Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) therapies.
In my therapy practice, I aim to provide a compassionate, well-rounded approach to therapy that empowers my clients and their caregivers, facilitates communication and healing, and fosters skills and self-love to weather life’s storms. I am passionate about my work and love collaborating within the community to help clients journey toward a holistic vision of wellness. Let’s walk together on the road towards healing.
